Head Cannon

Trailer: Z-6

Taken From.

Oh man, their is so much speculation when it comes to Charlotte. The more I look into her, the more I just want to laugh because their are so many theories you can go with.

One would be the main one—stated on the wiki. Where, she was in the hospital due to terminal cancer. This was when kyube made himself known to her, and asked if she wanted to make a contract.

The wiki states that she made a wish for her cancer to be gone.

I think she didn’t.

Instead of wishing for her cancer or illness to be gone. She wished for something much more childish, “I wish I could eat all the cakes and sweets I could again.

I did some poking around with some of the witches, and especially with Sayaka. Notice that the final room where Oktavia waited, the theme was a concert hall. Her wish was to heal the person she cared deeply for’s arm.

Since it was based off of her wish, then wouldn’t Charlotte’s be the same as well?

I looked into Oriko and Kirika—and I feel like one of them may have been Gertud. In Oriko’s wiki, a rose garden is mentioned. Oriko’s wish was to fulfill her fathers ideal in making the world a peacful place (so maybe she is actually Walpurgis Night). But for this speculation, lets say she is Gertud. It makes sense in perhaps the rose garden represents her father, which is where her wish was aimed for. And in the outer barriers it looks like the front of political buildings, then you have that wire which is geared to keep people out (Which is relative to who she is).

But then…

I thought maybe Kirika could have been Gertud because she seems really attached to Oriko—I cant find what her wish is about… But maybe it was to help Oriko’s goal? Which can also tie into the rose garden. Oriko’s wiki seems to state that she had said something kinda important to Kirika… So it might have been memorable to her. The outter barrier could reflect how rash in personality she was, how she saw everyone and wanted no one to get near her? The minions bringing her roses could show her dedication even as a witch to Oriko—who she pretty much loved greatly.

Anyway, the point I wanna get across is that the final room where the Witch lays. Seems to reflect the wish that was originally made by them. If you still don’t think so then I re watched that episode and found something I thought was interesting. MSMM tends to revolve around hinting, and foreshadowing. Well, Madoka said something that piqued my interest.

Now, it seems like the characters are anything but aware of their surroundings. Because I swear to god If I walked into some fucking whacked out place like that… Im pretty sure I’d be wondering what the fuck candy, and cake was doing hanging around on fish hooks for.

So I thought it was interesting, of all things to say she says this. (Yes of course Mami is talking about having a party or w/e, but its not like she specifically said ‘Why don’t you wish for a nice cake.’)

With that in mind, it is obvious that she didn’t wish for her cancer to leave. Instead she wished for her to be able to eat cake/candy.

Meaning as a Magi Puella, she still would have cancer right?

But then if she still had cancer to the point where she couldn’t have sweets and was in the hospital, how could she preform?

Two things I think, did happen to her:

  • Surgery.
  • The inability to eat sweets.

When you’re at her grief seed, you see it behind bars, and on top is some sign that is red. I can’t read japanese or w/e, but Im kinda certain that this is the “In surgery” sign you see often when a patient is being given an operation. Furthermore, when the seed begins to become active the light switches off… Which is what happens to that sign when surgery is done.

So, I do think that she had Surgery done to her.

Maybe after the Surgery she was told she was no longer allowed to eat sweets/cake. What if, it was just a certain amount of time? She being 11-14 hadn’t known any better, and was ultimately heart broken to find out (I can see her being someone who really loved candy and cake). Kyube being the sly little fox he is, appears and tells her she can make a wish. Maybe the girl just thought she was dreaming—so instead of thinking. She makes the wish right away.

Something along the lines of wishing she could eat all the candy and cake she wants to.

Now shes a Magi Puella, and now she can eat cake and candy she wants.

I don’t add cheese because… “She is unable to make the cheese that she loves most. One could easily catch her off-guard with a piece of cheese.” —Wiki

I figured, well her human self would have to have done something silly that made her not get the cheese that her witch self yearns so much more.

Maybe also since her wish didn’t cover full dairy products, she wasn’t allowed to eat them.

Also with her inability to eat sweets, if you look in that same picture of her labyrinth. You can see candy and stuff being hung on  fish hooks (Which can often be interpreted as something you want but cant reach. And if you reach it, their will be consequences). I feel like the labyrinth leading you towards the witch, is often the adaptation of why the wish came about (makes sense because then when you got to the room where the witch is stationed, that is the room that may display the wish they made).

Okay lets skip to this thing:

When the insides come out, and look horrifying and creepy compared to shell it came from. You either assume, her human self had some dark desires or, she was just really fucking gluttonous. I think a bit of both—now shes 11-14. I don’t think she had it out to kill or get anyone, come on now. I think it was more like she wanted to be spoiled, loved, wanted everything.

The dessert witch, with a tenacious nature. She desires everything. She will never give up.“—Wiki

Maybe not only was she gluttonous for cakes/candys things she shouldn’t always eat, she wanted peoples attention. Maybe she had been sick for a while, and when you are a young sick child. Parents will flock to your every need. When she made the wish and became a magi puella, she is suddenly all better and her parents aren’t as on top of her as they used to be.

So our human Charlotte was constantly looking for attention that she was used to having for a while, but not getting.

Okay now my head cannon for the witch itself:

When Charlotte first appears, she comes down sitting across from a stuffed toy. Which doesn’t have significant meaning in the manga. But in the anime, it seems that it might actually be the actual witch itself.

If the stationary doll is the actual “witch” part (because my point that I want to get across is that Charlotte might be partially alive in terms of her soul), then what the hell is going on?

I believe that maybe our sweets loving girl, did have cancer and with cancer it is possible to continuously come back. Maybe, even as she continued to heal herself with her own Soul Gem, the cancer wouldn’t cease to spread. Meaning she was dying—

Or better yet, maybe she didn’t even know she was getting cancer again? With being a Magi Puella, it seems that you don’t suffer from as much pain as you usually do. I’d like to think that in reality, you can’t feel pain when you get hit at all… But apparently you can? Idk about that theory, but back to my point.

What if her body actually died before she became a witch? And that doll that is stationary, is actually representative of her conscious or her self. When her body died, her Soul Gem was still active and well. So her soul was still alive but as said in episode 8 and in the wiki “If the Soul Gem is not cleansed in time and reaches a certain point it will become a Grief Seed and birth a new witch.

Her soul Gem began to darken, and then she turned into a witch (She didn’t want to, meaning unlike Sayaka who refused to clear her soul gem upon using her powers and shit. Charlotte did her job, and did it well). So maybe this doll is her, representing that she could no longer be living. Only her “Powers.”

It was after this, that Charlotte was defeated. When Homu landed on the doll, a noise had came from it as well.

MSMM being… Well MSMM, normally don’t do things without some fucking reason. The whole anime/show was about thinking out of the box and reading in between the lines.

Which is what made me to believe that maybe human!Charlotte who enjoyed being a Puella Magi and eating sweets—and being depressed that she couldn’t eat cheese. Was still aware and partially alive as a witch.

But she could do nothing but watch as the witch self go about and kill things.

And then with the cheese thing, she could have just succumbed to her desires. Her witch self reflecting that as a human she couldn’t have it. So now as a witch, she tried very hard to look for it.

Okay let me just say this now, because I think I’m done typing this out. These are just my speculations/ideas/interpretation. You are welcomed to find the holes in this, considering I just pulled this together in one days worth of researching got me… So yeah uh. Idk. Lmao.

Yeah.

There’s actually more to her—apparently, she may have known Homura and Mami… But I dont wanna look into that lmao.

Now for UPM Head Cannon:

  • Since in my head cannon I stated that, the stationary doll represents Charlotte’s actual self/Witch; this means it is a dear object. So the RingMaster has it.
  • Charlotte will speak in first person, because she is referring to ‘Her actual self’ which as I stated earlier, is with the Ring Master. Their is a surprise, and if she ceases from talking in third person, she is talking about her body. (Have fun interpreting this.)
  • If you hit her, or harm her. Charlotte feels harm inflicted on her, but does not understand that it ‘hurts’ so she will not care if you decide to use her as a punching bag, but if it gets out of hand she will retaliate…. So unless you want your head chopped off…
  • In UPM Charlotte acts more like her Human self, since she no longer has this need to reel human souls in.
  • CharlotteA(The ‘Mind who thinks’) Feels and is more human like, where as CharlotteB(The ‘Body who moves around’) does not comprehended human emotions, and only wishes to eat sweets and cheese(Because it ‘tastes good’).
  • CharlotteB is very mischievous and likes to fool around.
  • CharlotteA is very curious and wants to learn a lot since now her mind is not clouded.
